Each workshop aims to deepen understanding of smart city trends both in Japan and overseas, put them into practice, and explore the smart city Yokohama should aim to become.
This time we will report on the first event, which took place on November 11th.

First, Mr. Furuki, Secretary General of the Yokohama Future Organization, spoke about urban development and its characteristics that are unique to Yokohama.
There was an explanation that went through the history.
How was the current Minato Mirai area planned, and how did it arrive at its current form?
And where are they heading now, and what kind of efforts are being made?
The beautiful city of Yokohama as it is today was created by overcoming various challenges, including the region's topography and financial situation.

The second half of the session will be a discussion among the students.
As in the previous session, we formed groups of members with similar interests in various fields related to smart cities.
We will discuss the functions that Yokohama would like to add to its future urban development and smart city realization, the initiatives that will be necessary to achieve this, and the players that should be involved.
We had a discussion.
The participating students actively exchanged opinions and participated in the workshop in a serious yet enjoyable manner.
The presentations that followed the discussion were very interesting, featuring new perspectives and unique opinions that only students could offer.

This workshop will be held over five sessions.
We will be reporting on the workshop in the future, so stay tuned!
