The Yokohama Future Organization (Chairman: Izuru Umehara, President of Yokohama National University) was launched last year as an organizational platform for a wide range of entities, including companies, academia, and the public sector, to work together to create a sustainable and prosperous future city. .Cross-regional initiatives to create new challenges and businesses are beginning to take off, through collaborations between various actors in different areas such as business domains and academic fields, and opportunities for learning and demonstration experiments in Yokohama.

As an attempt to further accelerate the "crossover" of different fields centered on the city of innovation, Yokohama, we have established the "Yokohama Open Innovation・ Project - Accelerating the formation of the Yokohama innovation ecosystem in collaboration with the university's cutting-edge lab -" will start in May 2. Outline and aim of the project:
1. Both universities are leading large-scale research and development with bold ideas that are not an extension of the past, and have been selected by the Cabinet Office-led science and technology innovation policy “Moonshot Research and Development Program” (* 1). Positioning the state-of-the-art laboratory as the center of the industry-academia-government collaboration network, we will promote the creation of practical “connections” through exchanges between industry and innovation human resources who will open up the future together.

Expected effects and participation requirements for project participants:
A feature of this project is the formation of an industry-university-government network that crosses over different fields centering on the research themes being tackled by each university.In addition to cultivating R&D and business core human resources who will lead the next generation, we envision it as an opportunity to practice diversity and inclusion through co-creation with various actors based in Yokohama and to verify new product and service ideas.
