Space x Architecture - Building a city on the moon, and beyond to Earth
Friday, September 26th at TECH HUB YOKOHAMA
We held the "Yokohama x Space Project Professional Talk Vol.2: Experience the cutting edge of space architecture from Yokohama!"
The guests were Takuya Ohno from the Innovation Promotion Office at Kajima Corporation,
We welcomed Dr. Yosuke Yamashiki, Director of the Kyoto University SIC Human Space Research Center,
We asked the two about their passion for the development of the "Lunar Artificial Gravity Habitat" - a lunar surface artificial gravity habitat - and traced it back to their childhood dreams.

Space architecture is a mirror that reflects the future of Earth
Luna Glass, a lunar artificial gravity habitat, is a joint research project between Kajima Corporation and Kyoto University.
We continue to take on the challenge of reexamining life on Earth from the new perspective of "living" on the moon.
From an early age, Ohno felt anxiety about living on a planet where wars, conflicts, and environmental destruction continue.
He says that this bird's-eye view is the source of energy for his research.
Ever since I was a child, I have repeatedly asked myself, "Why? How? How can I do it?"
The words "I am where I am today because I never gave up and kept pursuing my goal" really resonated with everyone in the audience.
Also, no job is a waste, and taking on new challenges broadens your horizons.
I was reminded of the importance of keeping my antenna up, as the range of things I can do in the future will expand.
Yosuke Yamashiki of Kyoto University said,
The words "Space research is also a philosophy that explores why humans live" left a strong impression on me.
The perspective is not just about technology, but also about how to connect people's hearts and imaginations to the future.
It added depth to the theme of space architecture.
Thinking about space architecture also means reexamining how we should live on Earth.
Many of the participants nodded quietly in agreement.

A circle of empathy was born at the venue
Many of the company representatives were participating in this talk for the first time,
"My childhood dreams have made me who I am today"
"I was excited to hear about space from Yokohama."
"I would like to think about whether there is anything my company can do to help and give it a try."
Voices such as these were heard.
Not just specialized topics,
"What do we need to build a city on the moon?" "What space challenges can only Yokohama take on?"
The venue will come together to think about questions that everyone can relate to.
It became a forum for exchanging opinions and created a circle of empathy for the future.
Continuing to pursue dreams will change the future
Space is not about the distant future, but about the continuation of our dreams and those of our children.
The sight of adults talking about their dreams and continuing to work towards making them come true is the best message for the next generation.

Next event announcement
The next professional talk will be held on Friday, November 14th from 6:30pm.
The theme is "Space x life support (research)'
We welcomed JAXA researcher Masato Sakurai and Kyoto University SIC Human Space Research Center Director Yosuke Yamashiki,
We explore life support technologies in space and sustainable ways of living on Earth.
We look forward to your participation!
